Day 2 in Shanghai (Part 1)

There are 3 places of interest all visitors must go, when you cover these 3 you cover the whole of Shanghai. Moreover, I only have 3 to 4 days, so here lets go!

1) The Bund
The Bund or Waitan is a waterfront area in central Shanghai. The Bund usually refers to the buildings and wharves on this section of the road, as well as some adjacent areas. It is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Shanghai. Building heights are restricted in this area. The Bund once housed numerous banks and trading houses from the United Kingdom, France, the United States, Italy, Russia, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands and Belgium, as well as the consulates of Russia and Britain, a newspaper, the Shanghai Club and the Masonic Club.

So you would have guessed what inspired the Hong Kong period drama television series of the same name broadcast on TVB in 1980 right? Yup, its theme song Seung Hoi Tan (上海灘) is a well-known Cantopop song, originally performed in Cantonese by Frances Yip!
